First and foremost, Thanks for Stockalyze. I love it.

Issue:
Periodically I rename and rebuild the database because sometimes the Exchange name is not correct and I end up with multiple tickers for the same stock but with different Exchange names. (Minor issue, but it bugs me).

What I notice is when the database is re-created, there are some tickers by default that are duplicated with the wrong Exchange name.

I have attached a sample of ticker: AIRI

Questions:
Does the "New EOD Chart" maintain information from previous database entries?
How do I clean this up? Or Can I?

First and foremost, Thank you for all your hard work. You do an amazing job keeping Stockalyze functioning at its best.

I installed the update and things look good, except I usually have the exchange name in my CSV file and select the column it resides in with the "pull down" menu when importing symbols.

Now when I select the pull down it's displaying (in my case) the company names of stocks NOT in my CSV file along with all the exchange names text (NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, etc.). The header I needed to select was also there.

First and foremost, thank you for continuing to improve Stockalyze. It is greatly appreciated.

Now here is my question:
When I began using Stockalyze, I didn't know much about what I was doing and some stocks got entered without the exchange name, so it has "UNKNOWN" for the exchange. I have since corrected my mistake, but now I have a large amount of duplicate tables for some symbols.
 
One with the correct exchange name and another with "UNKNOWN".

I use SQL Lite.
I know some SQL, but only enough to be dangerous. I have tried to Google my question, but have failed to find the solution.

What would the SQL syntax be to delete all tables with "UNKNOWN" in its name?
Or is this something that should be left alone?

Hi Sacha. I hope all is well with you.

I discovered an issue with scanning stocks.
If I have a CSV file with Tickers, Name, Exchange in columns.
And if the Name has a comma in it, Stockalyze seems to treat it as a tab stop when it wants to add missing tickers to the database, and crashes.
When I removed all commas from my list Stockalyze ran successfully.

I can get around it by removing commas.

Hi Sacha.
This is very minor, but I thought I would let you know of it.

When I scan stocks and I have symbols that are missing, I get the window to add them by selecting what column the NAME is located in the csv file. When I select the column and click OK, the main window pops up, NOT the Stock Screener window. It's displayed, just in the background of the main screen.

As I said, minor issue.

I know it's something in my computer like a library that gets corrupted or something like that.

But, on occasion, even before this last update, if I try to change a chart template, or run a scan by importing stocks, that has unknown symbols, Stockalyze will stop working with the Windows 10 message indicating it has stopped working, with option to restart the program or close the program.

When I restart my computer Stockalyze runs fine with no problems.

Example:
After I downloaded and installed the update, I tried changing the Chart Template and Stockalyze crashed. Restarted my computer and everything was fine and still is after 24 hours running.

Hi Sacha. I hope your are well.

I don't know how "Apply Templates" is intended to work. But, I would think that if I want to apply a certain "designed" template, you would only see the indicators defined in THAT template.

That's not the case in my attempts and creating multiple chart templates. There are times when I want to see MACD and RSI and other times I'm looking for AROON, RSI and STOCH. I have two different templates designed for them.

When I apply the wanted template, the newly selected template appends itself to the current template, thus I end up with multiple indicators of the same. (i.e. two RSI indicators, if both templates have them)

So I currently have to Remove all indicators and then apply the template.

Could you either let me chose whether I want to append, or simply remove all indicators and apply the template when I select "Apply Templates".

I just had a thought. I know that data for a portfolio is kept in an XML file. Is it possible to import Symbols into a portfolio? If I build a portfolio for and industry for example. I have a csv file of symbols and prices. Is this possible?

Hi Sacha.

I haven't communicated with you in a while.
That's because your program has been awesome and I have had  no problems with it and I have it set up just the way I like for my portfolios and backtesting.

But, I have noticed lately, that when running a scan of stocks and I switch to another application (mostly Office Excel 365), the scan will "pause" after a varied number of tickers. And if I activate the results window, it will proceed and continue where it left off.

I can't say if any of the recent upgrades has brought this on or it's been there all along. Just that recently I have been using other Applications while Stockalyze is scanning.

I have had to resort to manually filtering my stock along with replacing my computer.

Since the change of computers, I have lost the registered copy of Stockalyze. I will gladly purchase another copy if needed.

Hi Socha.

I have a strange thing happening with a text file of stock symbols I am trying to scan.
I am using Yahoo as the data provider.

In the text file of 60 symbols is a symbol (LK - Luckin Coffee Inc.) and when I import the symbols, Stockalyze thinks the symbol is LKAI. That is, if I look at the import window of symbols, LK is not in the list but LKAI is.

The symbol does not show up as missing, though others in the list do as expected.

If I try to chart LK, it is not in the database. I'm sure I can add it, but I haven't yet, in case you need more information.

I have attached a snapshot of the import window showing the LKAI symbol.

I notice that when I use a symbol from the AMEX exchange via Yahoo, there are two symbols that show up. One from AMEX and other from NYSEMKT.

Are they in fact two separate entries in the database?

Which one would be the correct one to use?

Should I delete one of them?

Just a question on when historical data is downloaded.

Early on in learning Stockalyze I thought running a trading system on a list of stock symbols would download the historical data.

But now when I run a trading system, and then chart a symbol, I get the brief message "waiting for price history" then the chart is displayed.

So my question is:
How did the system run a trading system and use historical data when, by displaying a chart for a symbol, Stockalye needs to retrieve historical data?

Sometimes I get tickers from FinViz or other websites and I want to run those tickers through
stockalyze Backtesting, etc.

When a ticker is missing (sometimes the list can be more than five) is it possible to have an option in the popup window listing the missing tickers, to add these tickers then, instead of canceling your operation to add them, then re-start your operation?

Presently I have a screen capture utility to capture the tickers so that I remember which ones they were.

I'm using version build dated 9/8/3029 and when I launch it I get an error "XML parsing error: 'unclosed token' at line 27".

I thought it may be related to my alert file since I seem to have lost them.

I looked at the altert_repo file and it was missing the close "/>" symbol on the last line.

Once I corrected it all is fine.

These are the last few lines of the file BEFORE I corrected it:

I have some small annoyances that I hope you can remedy while you address more important issues.

Charts:
When displaying a chart I must click it to make it the active window in order to scroll to my indicators.

When changing the time span in a chart, sometimes the info boxes on the left do not appear, when you change back and forth they will finally appear.

When changing time from 2 year to 3 months, the 3 month display isn't the current timeframe, in my test, it shows timeframe of 5/18/2001-8/16/2001 after viewing a 2YR chart and switching back to 3M. Can you default it to current timeframe on the right side of the chart?

Reports:
The report generated by "Scan Ideas", can you re-draw the shading when you re-sort the list? Now, The shading "follows" the item, so they become bunched up. Sometimes I sort by Signal, and othertimes I sort by Last Price depending on my objective.

When you display a chart of an ticker, you lose the highlight on the report. Can you keep the row highlighted so you don't lost track of what you just viewed when viewing the chart and going back to the report?

I know these are very minor, but I just want you to know how "we" use your program, and what can be done to improve it.

Love all the recent changes you've made. Thank you for all your hard work.

I notice that when I enter a new transaction (ticker:YTEN) and choose yesterdays date, since you can't use today's date, the transaction price used is today's price, not yesterdays price.
In the example yesterday's(8/1) close price was .82 and today's current price is .85.
When I enter the transaction and use the button to Get Price, it uses today's price as the transaction price.
I can enter the correct price and it's fine.

Question: Shouldn't the "Get Price" use the date selected for the price? It seems to default to "latest" price.

I notice that when I sort the portfolios, the chart display doesn't change.
I hope I can explain clearly.

If I display a portfolio then select a line within the portfolio, the chart changes.
But then sort on a different column, the chart doesn't change and the highlight bar doesn't de-select in it's line position, and you can't display the chart on whatever the new line item is under the selection, until you select a different line then go back.

It looks like the highlight needs to follow the item when re-sorting instead of staying stationary on the re-sort.

To me it's not a terrible thing since the work around is to select another item then go back.

Hi Sacha.
I have noticed that if I view the "Consolidated" portfolio, I can sort by each of the columns.
But if I view a specific portfolio, and sort, say on the %Gain column, then if I select a different column heading to sort, I can't go back to the %Gain column and re-sort unless I select a column that has not been sorted on yet.
I notice that when I sort on a column within a specific portfolio, the little triangle indicating the direction of the sort doesn't go away when I select a different column. But it does in the "Consolidated" listing.
I hope I have explained this clearly.
